Memphis Drone (12+ artists) — H and S Printing Company

Show 6 PM

NASHVILLE, TN – September 22, 2026 – chatterbird, a Nashville-based chamber ensemble, is excited to partner with Memphis Print Shop and numerous Memphis-based artists for Memphis Drone, a six-hour concert of uninterrupted sound. The concert takes place at Memphis Print Shop on Monday, October 19, from 6:00 PM until midnight. Memphis Drone is co-produced by Jenny Davis, Robert Traxler, Unmanageable Arts, Hyasynth House, and Gezellig Records. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.

Memphis Drone is part of three durational drone concerts across Tennessee, with the other two taking place at future dates and locations later this fall. Each six-hour concert featuring over twelve musicians performing interlocking, collaborative sets will transform communities into temporary creative ecosystems where musicians, visual artists, and audiences explore sustained sound and shifting tones over time.

Featured performers for Memphis Drone include chatterbird, Dwight Van de Vate, Eudamonia Flue Quartet, Eve Maret, Infinity Stairs, Madame Fraankie, Marcella Simien, Optic Sink, Robby Grant, Sean Murphy, Tamar Love, and Thomas Corbin.

Designed as miniature community festivals, these experimental durational concerts, often called “drones”, prioritize deep listening, presence, improvisation, collaboration, and collective participation. Defined by sustained tones and repetition, drone is one of the world’s oldest musical forms, resonating across cultures from Indigenous Australian didgeridoos and Indian tanpuras to Scottish bagpipes and Tibetan Buddhist chant. By centering this universal musical structure, the project creates an accessible framework for participation while uplifting artists who work outside commercial music systems.
