TCWP: Norris Municipal Watershed Hike

This year’s hike at the Norris Watershed will explore the eastern part, primarily on woods roads that are not open to vehicles and will focus on forest management. The loop hike will go through a variety of forest situations including old, reverted fields, mixed mesophotic forest, and small patches of white pine. We will see examples of forest management activities that were implemented over a 50 to 60-year timespan. These include forest control burns, wildlife openings, crop tree release area, and clearcuts that were harvested in 1971, 1975, and 2014.

We will meet in front of Norris Middle School, across from the library near the pavilion, at 9 a.m. https://oakridgetn.gov/calendar.aspx?EID=4838
